In an effort to
be entirely candid about the items we sell, we provide this info
below. This is a Known List of Vehicles That Can
NOT be Self Programmed.
Please read ALL
Notes & the info applicable to your car.
A few exceptions
are listed. Nearly ALWAYS, if we do not have the
self-programming info,
NO ONE DOES. Do NOT be misled by other sellers! If you are within
driving distance
of Oakhurst, NJ, We CAN program the
majority, but not
quite all, of both
keys and remotes at our retail store.
The Manufacturers of these
vehicles has produced the following list of cars / trucks
so that special equipment is
required to get these keyless entry remotes programmed.
There are exceptions, but the vast majority of chipped keys can't be self programmed.

These keys are meant as a hide a

If you need a key with a chip, please look
for the proper auction or contact us.
NO Smart Keys AT ALL can be
self programmed.
It is NEVER advisable to purchase a remote based solely on how it looks, or because it looks
like the remote you have. Many remotes may appear identical, but they are not necessarily so.
Many vehicles these days can have different features. You must have the proper unit for the
vehicle year, make, model, and the features that car / truck has as well. An example of this
is a remote start button. You can not simply purchase a remote with the remote start button,
and expect it to work. It will not. If your car does not have remote start, you need a different unit.
Some vehicles can have one or two sliding doors. These units are also different and are NOT
interchangeable. The FCC id or GM numbers typically located on the back of most remotes,
are going to important deciding factors in obtaining the proper unit for your vehicle.
If you are uncertain about your needs, please call us.

There is also an overlap of two different systems in the late 90's to around 2000. Please be sure

Important Note 1 : Please remember
that all info we DO send is not made up by us.
The engineers of
the respective manufacturers of these vehicles dream up these procedures.
Some are easier
than others. Some model Toyotas in
general are known to be among the most
difficult to
accomplish. All info we DO send has
been used by many people, and is known to
work. We have personally used nearly all of our
info at our retail store.
Dealers actually do this a lot less than us, so please understand that we have
a pretty good
handle on nearly all aspects of vehicle remotes.
Important Note 2 : Dealers are NOT gospel. They are human like you and us. While most
people figure that
the dealers know what they are doing, on occasion they do NOT. We have
proven dealers dead wrong on a number
of occasions. They will cover their
tracks by stretching
the truth or flat
out lying to get you to buy their item at a much greater cost. We have over the
phone gotten
customers remotes and keys programmed that dealers have insisted were the wrong
unit, claimed were
dead, or had some other ridiculous excuse.
One dealer recently claimed to
our customer that
there was NO way to test a remote. This
is simply a flat out lie. There are
a number of remote
testers available. We use one EVERY
SINGLE DAY ! All of our items ARE
tested to be
certain they are emitting a signal prior to shipping to be sure they are
working.
Important Note 3 : Some people write us in disgust and tell us they followed the instructions to the letter,
and they do not work. This is rarely true. The reality is that they DID NOT follow the info
properly. We have done the same thing. Please read all info supplied. Have patience and
persistance. It does work, but you may not get it in the first several attempts as
there is a learning curve with some of these that you may need to work through. Often, a helper that
can read while you actually do the steps can be a great help and lead to success much quicker!

In a further effort to educate and assist our customers with their
purchases,
we also offer
the following Tips and Hints When
Purchasing a Vehicle Key,
Remote or
Combination Unit.
1. Programming: We send nearly all of our programming via an email
attachment. This needs to be
done directly from
us to you. We can not send the info via ebays system as they do not allow
attachments.
Therefore you should email us directly, not via ebays system. You must have a
working
email that will
accept attachments. We have dealt with a great many folks that have changed
their email
address and never
update their info with ebay. Many folks have a spam filter that will often not
allow our
email to get
through to you. You need to fix this as we cannot overcome your spam filter. We
NEVER
EVER intentionally
delete or ignore emails and not respond to them. We have multiple computers and
respond to requests
for program constantly during normal business hours, and many time after
business
hours. If you do
not receive a response from us, then in all likelihood you goofed in addressing
the email to
us and it never
got here, or we responded and you have a dead email address, or our response is
stuck in
your spam filter.
This has happened to HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of times. WE ANSWER
OUR EMAILS REGULARLY. Many of our auctions run for multiple vehicle models and
years. We can
not guess what
Vehicle you have. We want to send you the info specific to your vehicle. This
is why we
ask that you send
us an email directly After you have purchased and PAID for the item. In order
to get
a prompt and
accurate response from us, you should :
Place the words " Programming Request" in the subject line. You
should then include the following:
Winning Ebay Auction Number:
Your Full Name:
Your Vehicle Make:
Your Vehicle Model:
Your Vehicle Year:
We need to know that you are our customer to send you the info.
Delays may occur
if this procedure is not followed.
2. If you have an existing remote, it best to compare the FCC ID on your
existing unit to the one you are
looking at
purchasing. Many GM units go by the GM
number instead of the FCC ID. So you would need
to compare this
instead. On some Mazda remotes, they have what they call the Visteon number
that needs
to be compared. If
you do not have an existing unit, then we must look at up the info on a case by
case
basis or many
times the info provided will be enough to insure you have the proper unit. Some
GM products
can have multiple
remotes. They can change mid year during production, so just be aware that this
can
cause some issues from time to time.
3. Many vehicle keys have become very sophisticated. Most newer keys have a
chip in them that must
be programmed to
the vehicle. Most of these, but certainly not all need to be programmed with
special
equipment. Some
keys are called Smart keys, or proximity keys. These often will have no
physical
location to insert
a key as most folks know into a key slot. This type of key only needs to be in
the vehicle
console or on the
driver. A push button is then used in most cases to actually start the vehicle.
These cannot
be self
programmed. If you purchase a smart key, and you do not have the smart system
in your vehicle,
it will NOT work
even though they may look the same or similar. We often have what we call a
valet key
in many of our
auctions. These keys will NOT start the vehicle you have a need for a chipped
key. These
are only meant to
be used as a hide a key, or if the battery goes dead in the vehicle and you can
not gain
entry via the
remote.
4. Key and remote programming are most often separate and distinct from each
other except on very late
model vehicles,
Meaning 2007 and newer. Even if you have a key and remote in one unit, these
are
often actually two
separate systems in one tiny package. They have individual programming. Often
you
can self program
the remote, but not the key.
5. A word of caution. You can not purchase an item because you like the way it
looks and it has the
same logo as your
vehicle. Many Toyota vehicles in the later 1990’s and into the early 2000’s
could have
one of two different
systems on board. One was a factory installed system, and the other was a
dealer
installed system.
The remotes for these vehicles are NOT interchangeable. You need to know what
system you have in
your car. If you purchase a remote based solely on the year, make and model for
these
Toyota vehicles,
you have a 50 / 50 chance of obtaining the proper unit for the vehicle. It is
always best
with these
vehicles to call a dealer with your VIN number. Ask them which system came with
the vehicle,
unless you have
and existing unit that we can use to work from. We can then assist you from
there.
6. In general, Ford remotes are the easiest to program, and Toyotas are the
most difficult in our opinion.
You should also know that not all vehicles can be self programmed. Please
consult our list above for
specific info list
where the manufacturer in many cases have not built the system into the car for
self
programming. These
require special equipment get them working with your vehicle.
We hope that we have provided some useful information for you regarding your
prospective purchase.
We will be happy
to assist you further if you should have additional questions.
